Protection
The Iron Nail Ward
Drive iron nails above your doorframe and windowsills to create an impassable barrier against negative energy. Iron has been used since antiquity to repel malevolent spirits and ill intent.
What You Will Need
Iron nails
Three to five iron nails, one for each entry point you want to protect. Old-fashioned cut nails are traditional, but any iron or steel nail from the hardware store will work.
A small hammer
For driving the nails above doorframes and windowsills. A regular household hammer is fine.
Salt
A small bowl of table salt or sea salt. Salt has been used for protection across every culture for thousands of years.
A black candle or a white candle
Black for banishing negativity, white for purification. A tea light or birthday candle works.
A sprig of dried rosemary or a pinch of ground rosemary
Rosemary is one of the oldest protective herbs. It guards the threshold and blesses the home.
Moon Phase & Timing
Protection spells are strongest when the moon is releasing and clearing, but iron wards work at any time when the need is urgent.
Waning Moon: The ideal time for banishing and warding. As the moon shrinks, so does the power of anything unwanted trying to enter your space.
Dark Moon: The night before the new moon is the most powerful time for deep protection work. The darkness itself becomes your shield.
Saturday: Saturday is ruled by Saturn, the planet of boundaries, discipline, and protection. Driving your wards on a Saturday reinforces their strength.
