The Egg Limpia
The traditional folk healing practice of passing a raw egg over the body from head to toe, absorbing illness and negativity into the shell. Crack the egg into a glass of water and read the patterns for diagnosis.
What You Will Need
One raw egg at room temperature
The egg must be whole and uncracked. In many Latin American and Mediterranean traditions, the egg absorbs illness and negative energy from the body. Let it sit out of the refrigerator for at least thirty minutes before beginning.
A clear glass of water
Filled three-quarters full. You will crack the egg into this glass to read the results after the limpia.
A white candle
Lit during the ritual for protection and to hold sacred space. White light guards both the healer and the one being healed.
Salt
A small dish of salt nearby for grounding and protection. You may also sprinkle a circle of salt around your workspace.
Fresh herbs: rosemary or basil
Optional but traditional. A small sprig brushed over the body before the egg adds a layer of protective cleansing.
Moon Phase & Timing
The egg limpia is a cleansing rite and works most powerfully when timed with phases of release and diminishment.
Waning Moon: The best phase for removing illness, absorbing pain, and drawing negativity out of the body and into the egg.
Dark Moon: Use on the darkest night for the heaviest cleansings — deep emotional pain, chronic illness, or spiritual blockages.
Any Moon: In urgent cases, the limpia can be performed at any time. The egg does not need the moon's help to do its work — it only amplifies it.
