The Dark Water Scrying Ritual

A formal scrying ceremony using dark reflective surfaces with preparation and interpretation.
Level Intermediate
Time 25-30 minutes
Moon Full Moon or Monday
What You Will Need
Dark-colored bowl (black, dark blue, or deep brown)
A dark interior is essential for scrying — the water surface becomes a mirror into other realms
Water
Still water serves as the scrying surface — use room temperature water to avoid condensation
Black or dark blue candle
Placed behind the bowl so its light reflects on the water without illuminating the room
Salt
A pinch of salt added to the water purifies it and makes it receptive to visions
Dark cloth
Placed under the bowl to prevent reflections from the table surface
Moon Phase & Timing
Water scrying has been practiced for millennia and is most powerful when the Moon, ruler of water and tides, is at her strongest.
Full Moon: The most powerful time for water scrying — visions are clearest and most detailed
Dark Moon: Best for seeing hidden truths, secrets, and shadow aspects of a situation
Monday: The Moon's own day amplifies water's reflective and receptive qualities
Waning Moon: Ideal for scrying about what is fading, ending, or needs to be released
